Set in an area of 45 acres, accessed from Abbey Road, Park Drive, Park Avenue and Greengate Street, the award winning Park provides the perfect place to stroll on sunny afternoons.

Barrow Park provides bowling facilities, putting green, boating lake and display glasshouse. There is also a miniature railway and play area for younger children. A concrete skate park is accessible from Park Drive.

Barrow Park cafe, 'Cafe Pavilion' offers snacks, hot and cold drinks, confectionery, crisps, ice cream hot dogs etc... The Cafe is open daily from 10.30am.

April

Thursday 13th & 14th April - Barrow Full Art Workshop - in the Mawson Room from 10am-3pm The Northern Mural Company are designing a mural for the skate park in Barrow Park and would love your help to come up with the design. They will be running workshops in the Mawson Room (upstairs/next door to the Park Café) on 13th and 14th April where young people can contribute their ideas through drawing/painting/making. As part of the session, Northern Mural Company will introduce participants to their professional graffiti/street art practice, sensible relationships between graffiti/street art and the community, and the different styles of graffiti/street art that have developed throughout history. Monday 1st May - Pandvani 108 Pop Up Storytelling at 10.30am-12.30pm - Storytelling & music performance, devised to appeal to family audiences & can be viewed by all age groups.

Monday 22nd May - 26th May 23, Northern Mural Company will be painting a mural on Barrow Park’s Skatepark inspired by some workshops they ran with young people from Barrow in April.

On Saturday 27th May, when the mural launches, there will be a chance to meet the artists for a guided tour of the new piece. Just turn up at the skatepark in Barrow Park at 11am or 12 (midday) where the artists will introduce you to their work and talk about the process of designing the mural for Barrow.   • Model Railway Children's Rides: Sundays & Bank Holiday Mondays throughout the year 1.30-4.30pm in Winter and 2.00-4.30pm in Summer.

July 2005 marked the official opening of Barrow Park following the refurbishment work funded by the Heritage Lottery.

We always strive to provide a welcoming and safe Park and welcome any comments you may have.

Dogs in Barrow Park

On 30th June 2008, 4 new Dog Control Orders came into force and the following 3 apply to Barrow Park:

Dog Control Order 1: Removing Dog Faeces.

This order requires people in control of a dog to immediately remove dog faeces deposited by their dog.

Dog Control Order 2: Keeping Dogs on Leads.

This order requires people in control of a dog to keep it on a lead at all times.

Dog Control Order 4: Excluding Dogs From Land.

This order prohibits dogs from entering the children's play area.

Failure to comply with any of the above orders will result in a Fixed Penalty of £100 and these will be issued by PCSOs, Park Officers, Enforcement Officers or any other representative of Westmorland & Furness. The police will be called in any situation where a person in control of a dog contravenes an order and does not co-operate with the Fixed Penalty Procedure.

Fishing in Barrow Park

No fishing of any kind is allowed in Barrow Park.

A local bye-law bans fishing in any part of the lake, whether with a rod & line or with a net.
