Covid-19 update: Barrow's Meat Hall to reopen under strict social distancing rules

BARROW’S Meat Hall will reopen for a trial period to allow shoppers to purchase essential fresh meat supplies from two quality local butchers.

The Meat Hall, part of Barrow Market, will deploy strict social distancing measures designed to protect shoppers, shopkeepers and staff from coronavirus.

The move is designed to allow visitors to buy products from resident traders Sillfield Farm Foods and N &S Rhodes Family Butchers from Wednesday, May 13.

Entry to the hall will be from Dalton Road, with just one member of the public allowed inside at any one time. Hand sanitiser will be available as people enter and leave the Meat Hall area.

Social distancing markers, two metres apart, must be strictly adhered to at all times and a member of the Meat Hall staff will guide customers through on a one in/one out basis.

Shoppers will exit via the Stephen Street entrance once they have purchased their goods.

The arrangement will be piloted for two weeks and kept under review during this period. If the control measures are adhered to at all times, and the move is considered viable by the traders, it will become permanent.

Opening hours for the Meat Hall will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, between 9am and 2pm.
