Interest is rising on the first phase (16,000 sq.ft) of a flexible office/ Managed Business Space development at Barrow’s Waterfront Business Park, within the Barrow Island Growth Zone area.

Led by Barrow Borough Council, the development will initially provide two blocks of flexible space, while a third block also has planning consent and could be delivered in a second phase in future, subject to funding and further demand.

Designed by Kendal-based Mellor Architects, the space will be targeted at existing small to medium companies looking to relocate to larger premises, in a move that will address a shortage of business space in the town.

The scheme is funded 40% by Barrow Borough Council with the remainder met by the European Regional Development Fund.

Thomas Armstrong (Construction) Ltd secured a contract to build the development with a completion date of January 2020.
