Bicycle Mayor of Cumbria Elected


Richard Ingham has been elected as Bicycle Mayor of Cumbria following a public call for candidates. 

The Bicycle Mayor is a voluntary role, independent from both the public and private sectors. The idea originates from Amsterdam and the Cumbria Bicycle Mayor will be the first in the UK, joining Bicycle Mayors from such places as Sydney, Milan and Rio de Janeiro.

The role of the Bicycle Mayor is to promote cycling and encourage more people onto bikes. He will work with the Council and businesses to promote the economic, health and environmental benefits of increased cycling.
