Our Commitment
The Council believes everyone should be treated fairly and with respect. We are working to improve the quality of life for everyone in the Borough, regardless of any of the protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010 which are: race; sex; gender reassignment; disability; sexual orientation; religion or belief; marriage or civil partnership; age; and pregnancy and maternity.
The population in the Borough is made up of a diverse range of people who make different and valuable contributions to life in the area.
Unfortunately, some people in the Borough face discrimination every day and are denied life-chances, find access to services more difficult and suffer inequality. We have a responsibility to challenge unfair discrimination, wherever it happens. This commitment extends to the Council's entire role, as a fair employer, provider of services and community partner.
