A selection of Passenger comments from previous visits

I feel that I must write and congratulate you and your staff who put on such a warm welcome to Barrow last week.

We were fortunate to be one of four British couples on the Tahitian Princess when she sailed in last week. The reception, the facilities and effort put in by your staff made us proud to be English. I am also able to tell you that it was the talk of the ship at Dinner that evening and many people around us (all Americans) said that they would be coming back as the area could not be covered in one day. It also seemed that quite a few people spent considerable sums of money whilst ashore which can't be bad for the local economy.

We would be grateful if you could pass on our thanks to those concerned as it also made it such a memorable day for us as well.

Liz and Keith Frost

My husband and I arrived in Barrow on May 22 and we received the most wonderful warm welcome that we could ever imagine. Thank you so much for all that you and your government agencies did to arrange the bands, dancers, tent with money exchange and crafts, etc. We were all so excited to receive such a wonderful welcome. Your residents were out on a peninsula waving at us and watching us arrive; other townspeople came out to the lock to see us depart. Again, we have taken around 15 cruises and never received such a fantastic reception! We will recommend Barrow to all of our friends and hope to visit there again someday. Regards Maurice and Evelyn Heuss, Deland, Florida, USA PS We enjoyed the Dock museum very much and your free shuttle bus was such a help to all!

Deborah Cosper Hughs "Thank you for a most perfect day due to the amazing hospitality of your town and your people. I love my country but could imagine living here" "I was so moved by the graciousness of your town! Loved the band"

Katherine Cosper "Most gracious reception very organised. Simply a great day and visit. Thank you so much!"

Sue Davis "Loved the area, I would like to return and stay for a week or so to see more"

Lucia de la Torre "It's a lovely town and the people are friendly and helpful... Thank you!

"The Dockyard Museum was excellent ... Thank you very much"

Teresa Osbeck "Best welcome of any port"

Joseph Milliner "I am a New Yorker and am not used to such sincere kindness. A warm welcome"

Eileen Roeker "People were very friendly and helpful. A beautiful city, tulips added colour. Dock Museum was great"

"To the Residents of Barrow

Thank you.

We feel you were bombarded today with 600+ total strangers and to be able to handle, all at one time, this number of passengers can be quite a challenge. It is our opinion you handled this challenge extremely well.

We took a cab to the Lake District and saw Lake Windermere, Beatrix Potter Attraction, Rydal Mount, St. Mary's Church at Rydal Mount and Furness Abbey. We had dinner at Chevita - excellent food and staff was great.

We cannot thank you enough for making our day in Barrow and the surrounding area such an enjoyable and very scenic experience. Neil was our cab driver (A1 Taxis) and we spent 5 1/2 hours with him and he did an excellent job taking us around and showing us as much as we could see in such a short time period. God willing - we would like to return and see more of this area.

Thank you for all your hard work, friendliness and information sent prior to our arrival. We can only hope the passengers from the Tahitian were as pleasant, courteous and friendly to all those they met today in Barrow and the Lake District.

Thank you for all your hard work and making us feel so welcome.

Craig Haraghian and Ann Matthews"
